When an environmentally compatible medium leaks from a mechanical seal, it is discharged undirected into the atmosphere or is conveyed into the sewage system via a collection tank positioned beneath the machine being sealed. Leakage of any media constituting a risk to the product or the environment has to be discharged selectively into an external system.

Single, internally pressurized mechanical seal with splash guard and discharge bore (1)

Double mechanical seal with leakage trap (1) and drain bore (2) for buffer liquid circuit leakage

Mechanical seal in tandem arrangement; leakage is removed via the quench medium (1)
