Flow guide

A system for forced diversion of coolant in the area of the sealing faces. Heat produced by friction on the sliding faces causes the temperature of the surrounding fluid to rise. In rotating mechanical seals the fluid is also set in rotation. The centrifugal effect holds the cold and hence specifically heavier fluid at the outside, while the hot, lighter fluid remains on the inside at the mechanical seal, resulting in a concentration of heat. Such an accumulation of heat is prevented by a flow guide. A distinction is drawn between fixed flow guides and adjustable flow guides, which are able to compensate considerable axial movements.
