An annular component of a mechanical seal for torque transmission between the shaft (or shaft sleeve) and the spring-backed seal face.

Torque transmission between the drive collar and seal face (housing) is mostly by way of positive locking and with axial movement. Often drive collars are also used in addition as carriers of multiple springs or to support a single spring.
