For appropriate geometries and large batches it is passible to manufacture seal faces and stationary seats from carbon graphite, which are so closely pressed to size (PTS) that it only remains to finish-machine the sliding face. With the forming pressure and annealing temperature in PTS production being lower than in the manufacturing of blanks, the strength of the finished parts is also lower.
