Selective corrosion | ||
Selective corrosion describes the leaching of a material's alloying and micro-structural constituents. For example: graphitic corrosion, intergranular corrosion of rustproof steels (the chromium-deficient grain boundary regions are selectively corroded), the "washing out" of silicon from reaction sintered silicon carbide by strong bases and from tungsten carbide under certain conditions. |
