Encapsulated O-rings | ||
Encapsulated O-rings combine the elasticity of the core material (elastomers) with the chemical and thermal endurance of the sheath made of PTFE or FEP. PTFE sheaths are produced with a joint. FEP sheaths encapsulate the O-ring without a seam. PTFE encapsulated O-rings are recommended for installation only in open grooves. Installation in a closed groove can be considered for odd cases. FEP O-rings are suitable for higher loads under certain conditions only. When installing double PTFE-encapsulated elastomers, care must be taken to ensure the joint of the outer sheath points against the direction of installation, as otherwise the sheath can open or be pulled off. Kinking of the film must be avoided at all costs to prevent leaks. |
