Phenolic resins or phenoplasts are thermosetting or thermoset plastics produced through limited polycondensation of monomers, e.g. phenols (aromatic hydroxyl compounds) with formaldehyde. One of their uses is as impregnation for porous face materials, e.g. carbon graphite.
