Welding finds application as a manufacturing process in sealing systems for design reasons and cost considerations (expensive special materials for parts in contact with the product/low-price materials for construction parts). Surface weldings of corrosion-proof and wear-resistant materials are used just as much as joint weldings of different or similar materials. Special consideration must be given to the weldability of the materials (cf. DIN 8528, Part 1, June 1973; Part 2, March 1975)

• manual arc welding
• inert gas welding: TIG (tungsten inert gas welding) and MIG/MAG (metal inert/active gas welding)
