Changes to the seal-relevant operating conditions during intermittent operation of a machine (e.g. when switching off for the week-end) can influence the selection of the seal type or necessitate certain auxiliary measures such as for example:
- an auxiliary heating system with temperature monitoring and electric interlocking of the drive motor when dealing with highly viscous media
- flushing of pumps to remove polymerizing and settling media prior to switching off
- maintaining the buffer fluid pressure
for pressurized stand-by pumps with double mechanical seals
preventing temperature stratification.
